About Us

NOTE FROM FOUNDER

The idea of an open, play-based school took root after reading this book called Totto Chan - The Little girl at the window written by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. This book was given to me by my sister in law and friend Ubaldine when my children were young. This school is my homage to her memory and all the ideas and activities which I wish my children had experienced in their formative years.

I am immensely grateful to my parents for making my dream a reality and my family for their support. I truly believe that if you want something with all your heart, anything can be possible.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The methodology of our teaching is influenced by Reggio Emilia and Waldorf way of education. We are very serious about recycling and living in harmony with nature. All the indoor and garden furniture are made of recycled material. We grow a lot of our vegetables and fruits organically. We have a 5.2 KVA solar plant on our roof and all our electricity needs are met by solar energy.

Our focus is also on lots of free play and physical activities for children. We have tried to build an atmosphere which is homelike, friendly with different types of areas to explore, play and learn. There are outdoor garden areas, playhouses, climbers, a cottage with indoor play, bright classrooms, a library and a dining area.

Children are born naturalist, they explore the world with all their senses. Yellow House Preschool provides a way in which children get to know the world around them and fosters in them a sense of wonder.
